Brittany Cartwright Just Got A Restraining Order Against Jax Taylor After He Allegedly Threatened To "Gut Her Like A Fish" β And The Court Docs Are WILD π±
The Vanderpump Rules star filed a domestic violence restraining order with photos of bruising, broken iPads, and explosive text messages. This divorce just went from messy to absolutely TERRIFYING.
The "Vanderpump Rules" divorce that already had us clutching our phones just took the darkest turn imaginable.
Brittany Cartwright was granted a temporary restraining order against her estranged husband Jax Taylor on Thursday β and the allegations she's made in court documents obtained by TMZ are genuinely disturbing. We're talking death threats, physical violence, smashed iPads, and a years-long pattern of abuse that she says has been happening behind the scenes of their reality TV life.
This is NOT the reality TV drama we signed up for. This is serious.
The Threat That Changed Everything
Here's where it gets absolutely chilling: Brittany alleges that Jax threatened to "gut" her "like a fen fish"* while physically attacking her and throwing furniture at her during their explosive fights.
Yes, really.
According to the court filing, TMZ reports that the L.A. Superior Court judge ordered Jax to stay 100 yards away from Brittany. She also requested sole custody of their 5-year-old son Cruz, but that part was denied pending a full court hearing.
The Photos Are Heartbreaking π
Brittany didn't just file allegations β she backed them up with receipts. Photos submitted to the court show dark bruising around her knee and leg, along with images of a flipped coffee table and what looks like a completely destroyed iPad.
According to TMZ, Brittany says the damage all happened during a July 2024 incident when Jax allegedly went through her private messages on her iPad and flew into a rage. She claims he threw furniture at her β and that coffee table struck her knee, leaving a "huge bruise." She also says he intentionally smashed her iPad that night.
The Tea β
- Brittany filed a domestic violence restraining order against Jax with disturbing allegations
- She claims he threatened to "gut her like a fish" and physically attacked her
- Court photos show bruising on her knee and broken furniture/electronics
- A judge granted the restraining order and ordered Jax to stay 100 yards away
- The couple shares a 5-year-old son, Cruz
A Decade Of Alleged Abuse
This wasn't a one-time thing, according to Brittany's filing. She laid out what she describes as a pattern of abuse spanning the last decade β including "coercive control, financial abuse, emotional and psychological abuse, gaslighting and even physical violence."
The list of alleged destruction is staggering: Brittany says Jax broke three of her iPhones, one iPad, destroyed other property, and even snatched her $70,000 wedding ring from their home and refused to give it back.
She also claims he stalked her, gained unauthorized access to her iPhone and Instagram account, and deleted messages from her phone without permission.
The Texts Are Absolutely EXPLOSIVE
If you thought the physical evidence was bad, wait until you see the alleged text messages. TMZ obtained the text exchanges Brittany submitted as court exhibits, and they paint a picture of a relationship that had completely deteriorated.
After Jax allegedly showed up at her home and "banged cursed and screamed" at her front door in front of their son in July 2026, Brittany texted: "YOU ARE NOT MY BOSS. Grow up and leave me alone you are sick and will never change."
When Jax accused her of threatening him, Brittany responded: "This is not a threat this is my home. I am advising you I do not feel safe or comfortable with you stepping foot around me or my property."
Jax's reply? He threatened to have "the state" drop by twice a week and made allegations about her "alcoholism."
The back-and-forth is genuinely hard to read.
It Gets Even Worse
According to the court docs, the alleged verbal abuse was relentless. Brittany claims Jax repeatedly called her names including "bitch," "c***," "fat ass bitch," "fatty," "broke ass bitch" and "whore" β both behind closed doors AND in public in front of their child.
She also says Jax used child and spousal support as a weapon to intimidate her, telling her she'd lived on "his dime" and that now she'd have to pay HIM for spousal and child support.
And if that wasn't enough control tactics? Brittany alleges Jax threatened to go "public" with false accusations about her and posted their private messages about Cruz on OurFamilyWizard (a co-parenting app) without her consent.
From Reality TV Couple To This
Brittany and Jax got married in a lavish 2019 ceremony that was featured on "Vanderpump Rules." They welcomed son Cruz in 2021 and went on to star in the Bravo spinoff "The Valley" together.
But behind the cameras, Brittany alleges, a very different story was unfolding.
The couple separated and Brittany filed for divorce in 2024. Since then, things have only gotten messier β with Jax now publicly dating his publicist Lori Krebs (which Brittany has called out as a betrayal).
TMZ reached out to Jax for comment on the restraining order allegations, but so far there's been no response.
We Are NOT Okay
Look, we love reality TV drama as much as the next person. Thrown wine? Iconic. Reunion show meltdowns? Chef's kiss. Table flips? Legendary.
But THIS? This crosses every line. If these allegations are true, this isn't entertainment β it's a woman documenting abuse and taking legal action to protect herself and her child. And we're glad she's speaking up and getting a restraining order in place.
Reality TV has given us countless messy divorces and dramatic breakups, but the allegations Brittany is making here are in a completely different category. This is about safety, not storylines.
Do you think Bravo will address this on "The Valley"? Or should reality shows draw the line when things get this serious? Sound off below. π
