Stop everything, because BTS's V just dropped some devastating news that has ARMY spiraling.

The 30-year-old K-pop superstar revealed during a livestream on Wednesday that he's been dealing with serious hearing loss in one ear for the past two and a half years β€” and this is the first time he's ever told fans about it.

The Heartbreaking Details

"If the hearing in my left ear is at 100, it's only about 30 in my right," V (real name Kim Tae-hyung) told fans during the emotional stream, according to the BBC.

Yes, you read that right. He's lost 70% of his hearing in one ear β€” and he's been performing on BTS's massive Arirang World Tour this entire time.

The livestream came right after the band wrapped their Baltimore shows, and V was joined by bandmate Jungkook, who revealed his own health struggles (more on that in a sec).

It Got Worse During Military Service

V explained that his hearing issues became significantly worse while he was serving his mandatory military service in South Korea.

But here's the part that's really getting to us: he didn't take it seriously at first, thinking it was just "a matter of mental strength."

V enlisted in 2023 and was discharged in June 2025, which means he's been dealing with this through some of the most intense physical and mental challenges of his life. And he just... powered through? We are NOT okay.

The good news is that he's now taking medication and going to hospital regularly for treatment.

Jungkook Is Also Injured

As if that wasn't enough to process, Jungkook used the same livestream to reveal he's been dealing with a shin injury that's gotten so bad, he's "on the verge of developing a stress fracture."

The youngest BTS member said he'll have to manage the injury carefully to keep performing on the world tour, which still has MONTHS to go β€” with stops in Los Angeles, Buenos Aires, Bangkok, Sydney, and Hong Kong coming up.

The Tea β˜•

  • V has lost 70% of hearing in his right ear over the past 2.5 years
  • The condition worsened during his military service (2023-2025)
  • He initially dismissed it as a mental strength issue before seeking treatment
  • He's now on medication and getting regular hospital care
  • This revelation came during the band's first world tour since reuniting after military service
  • Jungkook is also battling a serious shin injury on the same tour

Why This Matters

BTS just reunited in April after all seven members completed their mandatory 18-month military service β€” a hiatus that put their careers on hold when they were at the absolute height of their fame.

The Arirang World Tour is their first time performing together in years, and fans have been LIVING for it.

But now we're finding out that two of the members have been dealing with serious health issues this whole time, and honestly? The dedication is both inspiring and concerning.

Are you worried about V and Jungkook pushing through these injuries, or do you trust they're getting the care they need? Let us know in the comments.
