Dolly Parton Has Died At 80 β And The World Will Never Be The Same πβ¨
The country music legend and global icon has passed away in Nashville after battling health issues. From "Jolene" to "9 to 5," she gave us everything β and we are absolutely heartbroken.
Stop everything. We need to talk about something that has absolutely shattered us today.
Dolly Parton β the country music legend, Hollywood icon, and literal human angel β has died at age 80.
Her nephew and longtime head of security, Bryan Seaver, confirmed the devastating news on Instagram Tuesday morning, and honestly? The world feels a little less sparkly right now.
The Details Are Heartbreaking
According to TMZ, Dolly was admitted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville early Friday morning with kidney and autoimmune issues. She died in the hospital Tuesday morning.
The "Jolene" singer had been open about struggling with health problems in recent months. Just days before her death, she told People magazine she was "dealing with some health issues" she hadn't paid attention to while caring for her husband, Carl Dean, before his death in March 2025.
"I've been through hard times," she said in that final interview. But she was still working, still healing, still being Dolly.
She'd canceled her September Las Vegas residency earlier this year and abruptly pulled out of a Dollywood appearance this month after doctors told her not to travel due to dehydration and dizziness. She'd also mentioned immune system issues, digestive problems, kidney stones, and medication complications.
A Legacy That Changed EVERYTHING
Where do we even start?
Dolly sold more than 100 million records worldwide. She wrote some of the most iconic songs in history β "Jolene," "9 to 5," "I Will Always Love You" (yes, she WROTE that). She starred in films like "9 to 5" and "Steel Magnolias." She earned an Oscar nomination. She built an empire that stretched far beyond music.
And through it all, she remained one of the most beloved, generous, genuinely GOOD people in entertainment. Her Imagination Library has given millions of books to children around the world. From growing up dirt poor in Tennessee to becoming one of the biggest stars on the planet, her story was truly one of a kind.
The Tributes Are Pouring In π
The entertainment world is absolutely devastated.
Kacey Musgraves, who performed with Dolly at the 2019 Grammys, wrote on X: "Dolly. This really really hurts. The world feels a lot less sparkly all of a sudden."
Reba McEntire posted an emotional tribute, writing: "Well, I just got the news that my buddy Dolly passed onto the higher and greater side. Dolly, thank you for all the wonderful things you did for us here on earth... There will never ever be another you."
Julia Roberts, who starred alongside Dolly in "Steel Magnolias," said: "Dolly was a magical and joyous human. I hold knowing her as a treasure in my life. The sun has dimmed today."
Khloe Kardashian called her "a once-in-a-lifetime soul," while Jamie Lee Curtis praised her bravery and kindness. Even President Trump weighed in, ordering American flags lowered for one week in her honor.

- Her husband Carl Dean died in March 2025 after 58 years of marriage β they never had children
- The tributes are POURING in from everyone from Reba McEntire to Keith Urban to Kacey Musgraves

We're Not Ready For This
Look, we knew Dolly had been dealing with health issues. But this? We are absolutely gutted.
She was supposed to be immortal, you know? That big blonde hair, those rhinestones, that smile that could light up an entire room β Dolly was more than a celebrity. She was a force of nature. A walking, talking reminder that you can come from nothing and become EVERYTHING, and still stay kind, still stay generous, still stay real.
She worked 9 to 5 and then some, and she did it all with grace, humor, and more heart than anyone had a right to have.
The world lost a true icon today. Someone who made it brighter, kinder, and way more sparkly just by existing.
Rest in peace, Dolly. We will always, ALWAYS love you. πβ¨
