Ewan McGregor Just Publicly Called Out Disney To Let Him Play Obi-Wan Again — And Honestly? We're Here For It ⚔️

May the Force be with Ewan McGregor, because he's NOT giving up on his Jedi dreams. The actor just went on the record calling out Disney to let him return as Obi-Wan Kenobi — and he did NOT hold back.

"I'm ready whenever they are," McGregor told E! News while promoting his new movie, The End of Oak Street. "They just seem to not be ready, but I'm up for it."

And Then He Got SPECIFIC

The 55-year-old isn't just vaguely interested — he's already mapped out EXACTLY what stories he wants to tell.

According to Variety, McGregor pointed out that at the end of his 2022 Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi, his character walks off into the desert with Qui-Gon's Force ghost. "And we go off… but where are we going?" he asked.

The next time we see Obi-Wan, he's Alec Guinness up in the mountains in the original Star Wars. "What happens between those two moments is what I want to do and spend the rest of my career doing," McGregor said. Stories, series, movies — he wants it ALL.

The Tea ☕

  • Ewan McGregor debuted as Obi-Wan in 1999's The Phantom Menace and became an instant fan favorite
  • He returned for the 2022 Disney+ limited series, which racked up 6.5 BILLION minutes viewed in the U.S.
  • The actor says he's got "10 years before I am Alec Guinness' age" — plenty of time for more Jedi adventures
  • His message to Disney? "Come on, Disney!"

The Pressure Is ON

Look, we get it — McGregor has been saying he wants to return for YEARS. He told British GQ back in 2022 (before the series finale even aired), "I really hope we do another. If I could do one of these every now and again — I'd just be happy about it."

But this time feels different. This time he's publicly putting Disney on blast, essentially saying "the ball is in YOUR court." And honestly? The fans are 100% behind him.

The 2022 series was always billed as a limited run, but it became Disney+'s second most-watched show that year. The demand is THERE. The actor is READY. The story gap between his series and the original trilogy is BEGGING to be filled.

What's The Hold Up, Disney?

McGregor first donned the Jedi robes 27 years ago, and while the prequels divided critics and fans, pretty much EVERYONE agreed his Obi-Wan was perfection. He went on to reprise the role in Attack of the Clones (2002) and Revenge of the Sith (2005) before that 17-year break.

Now he's basically saying: I've got a decade left to tell these stories, so LET'S DO THIS.

Between wandering the desert with Qui-Gon's ghost and eventually settling into that hermit cave life, there are YEARS of untold adventures. Protecting Luke from afar? Dealing with the trauma of everything that went down with Anakin? Learning the ways of the Force from beyond the grave? Yes, yes, and YES.

We are SO ready for more Obi-Wan content, and clearly, so is Ewan. The question is: will Disney listen?
