Stop everything, because Hayley Atwell just broke her silence about THAT Captain Carter death scene β€” and honestly? We're living for the drama. 🍿

The actress, who's played Peggy Carter/Captain Carter across the MCU since 2011, just went OFF at the For the Love of Fantasy & Sci-Fi convention in London about how her alternate-universe superhero was killed in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. And her take is absolutely BRUTAL.

She Called It Getting "Frisbeed To Death"

Yes, really. Those are her actual words.

According to Deadline, Atwell told the convention crowd she was "so disappointed" with how Captain Carter was positioned in the 2022 film β€” where the character cameoed as an alternate to Captain America before being killed off by Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) with her own shield.

"If I'm really like brutally honest, I was so disappointed with how they positioned her and what happened to her in that scene," Atwell said. "It's so small, and she gets frisbeed to death."

We are NOT okay. 😭

The Tea β˜•

  • Hayley Atwell slammed Captain Carter's death scene in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as "a complete disservice to the character"
  • She tried to suggest changes on set but was told "Sure, but no"
  • The actress has been playing Peggy Carter since 2011 and is expected to return in Avengers: Doomsday later this year

She Tried To Change It On Set

And here's where it gets even MORE interesting: Atwell revealed she actually tried to fight for her character while filming.

"I tried on set to kind of go, 'Can I just add? Can I just suggest?' And they were like, 'Sure, but no,'" she told the crowd.

OOF. That has to sting.

The actress didn't mince words about the whole situation, saying: "I felt that was like a bum steer and a complete disservice to the character."

This Isn't The First Time She's Spoken Out

For those keeping track at home, this actually isn't the first time Atwell has aired her grievances about the scene. Back in 2023, she told the Happy Sad Confused podcast about the moment when Captain Carter says "I could do this all day" (the iconic Captain America line) β€” only to immediately get cut in half.

"And the audience being like, 'She can't do it all day. Apparently you can't, so, egg on your face.' That doesn't really serve Peggy very well," she said at the time.

She's got a point! The whole thing does feel like a bit of a letdown for a character who's been such a fan favorite for over a decade.

But There's Hope For The Future

The good news? Atwell said Captain Carter was having "fun" in the superhero guise, and she's hoping for more. "I hope maybe one day in the future they'll give her more in that capacity," she teased.

And get this: Atwell is expected to return as Carter in Avengers: Doomsday later this year. So maybe β€” MAYBE β€” we'll get the Captain Carter storyline she (and we) deserve.

She Uses Captain Carter's Lines In Contract Negotiations

In a power move we absolutely love, Atwell also revealed at the convention that she uses Captain Carter's iconic line "I know my value" when negotiating her Marvel contracts.

"If I'm able to say these lines with conviction, I've got to embody them myself," she said.

ICONIC. We stan a queen who knows her worth. πŸ‘‘

The Verdict

Look, we get it. Hayley Atwell spent YEARS building this character into a beloved MCU fixture, only to have her alternate-universe version get... frisbeed. It's giving disrespectful, and she has every right to call it out.

With Avengers: Doomsday on the horizon, here's hoping Marvel gives Captain Carter the storyline she deserves β€” and maybe lets Atwell have a say this time?
