Well, well, well. If it isn't the consequences of changing your mind about literally everything.

Jon Hamm β€” yes, THAT Jon Hamm, certified silver fox and eternal heartthrob β€” is about to become a father for the first time at 55. And before you start typing "good for him!" in the comments, you need to know what he said about fatherhood back in 2012.

"I'd be a terrible father!" the actor told Us Weekly in a now-resurfaced interview, according to Page Six.

Oh, how the turntables.

The Tea β˜•

  • Jon Hamm, 55, is expecting his first child with wife Anna Osceola, 38
  • Back in 2012, he told Us Weekly he'd be a "terrible father"
  • He was dating Jennifer Westfeldt for 18 years β€” they chose not to have kids
  • Sources say he's "in a completely different place in life now" and genuinely excited

When Jon Was Team No-Kids

Back in March 2012, Hamm was 41 and in a long-term relationship with actress and filmmaker Jennifer Westfeldt. The couple had been together for years, and the topic of children came up more than once.

That same month, Westfeldt opened up to the New York Times about their decision to remain child-free. "I never thought I'd be this age and not have kids," she admitted at 42. But here's the thing β€” she didn't regret it.

"I kept feeling like I'd wake up with absolute clarity, and I haven't," Westfeldt explained. "And we have a pretty great life together. The chance that we'll regret it doesn't seem like a compelling enough reason to do it."

The couple split in September 2015 after 18 years together, releasing a joint statement about their "love and shared history." Not long after, Hamm went to rehab to treat alcohol addiction, with Westfeldt supporting him through it all.

Enter Anna Osceola (And A Whole New Chapter)

Fast forward to now, and Hamm is married to Anna Osceola, whom he met on the set of Mad Men back in 2014. They started dating in 2020 and tied the knot in June 2023.

And apparently? She changed EVERYTHING.

"[Osceola] opened up the possibility of things like being married, having kids, you know, defining a new version of happiness, life, wellness," Hamm gushed to Howard Stern in September 2022.

A source told Us Weekly that Hamm's perspective has completely shifted. "Jon was in a very different mindset and a different place in his life when it came to having kids in the past," the insider said. "His perspective has changed a lot since then."

And He's Actually Excited Now

The source also revealed that Osceola never pressured her husband into having kids, even though she wanted a family. "[They] got to a place together where they both felt ready to take that next step," the source explained. "They're both so excited and it really feels like the right time for them."

"[Hamm] is in a place in his life where he's ready and genuinely excited to become a dad," they added.

Honestly? We love a redemption arc. We love character development. We love a man who can admit he was wrong and grow from it.

The Internet Is Divided (As Always)

Of course, social media has THOUGHTS. Some people are celebrating Hamm's journey to fatherhood, while others are pointing out the privilege of men being able to have kids well into their 50s and 60s while women face biological clocks and societal judgment.

Both things can be true! You can be happy for Jon Hamm AND acknowledge that Hollywood has wildly different standards for men and women when it comes to parenthood timing.

But one thing's for sure β€” this baby is going to have the most distinguished-looking dad at every school pickup. The man literally gets better looking with age, and that's just facts.

People Change β€” And That's OK

Look, we're not here to shame anyone for changing their mind about having kids. Life is long, circumstances shift, and meeting the right person can absolutely transform what you want out of life.

What Hamm said in 2012 was valid for where he was at that time. What he's doing now β€” preparing to become a father with someone who makes him excited about the future β€” is equally valid.

The man went from "I'd be a terrible father" to "I'm ready and genuinely excited to become a dad" in 14 years. That's called growth, baby. And we're here for it.

So team Jon Hamm as a dad or team "why are we celebrating a 55-year-old first-time father when women get judged for having kids after 35?" Sound off below β€” we want ALL the takes. πŸ‘‡
