Kylie Jenner Is Getting Her First Big Acting Role — As A Bride Who Ends Up Murdered In The Pool
Kylie Jenner is set to headline and executive produce a Hulu thriller where her character is found dead in a pool after a bachelorette weekend. Here's the plot, Kim's role and what we know.
Stop scrolling, because Kylie Jenner is officially going full prestige-thriller — and yes, her character is found dead in a pool. We are NOT okay.
According to Deadline, Kylie is set to headline and executive produce Bachelorette Weekend (that's the working title), a thriller drama that is finalizing a straight-to-series order at Hulu.
The Tea ☕
- Kylie stars in and executive produces a Hulu thriller, which Deadline calls her first major acting role
- Kim Kardashian is also an executive producer and is the reason Kylie got the script
- The Hulu deal is still being negotiated, and a Hulu rep declined to comment
Wait, What's The Plot?
Per Deadline, a bachelorette weekend turns deadly when the bride (Kylie) winds up murdered in the pool, and all of her closest girlfriends instantly become suspects.
Kylie's role is described as the "North Star" of the series, which pieces together the events that led up to the murder. So expect flashbacks, side-eyes and at least one suspiciously tipsy toast.
How Kim Got Involved
Here's the behind-the-scenes bit. The series comes from author and screenwriter Lauren Oliver and Aaron Kaplan's Kapital Entertainment, and it's based on an unpublished book by Flora Collins, per Deadline.
The spec script was sent to Kim to produce. She reportedly thought it was a great starring vehicle for her little sister, passed it along, and both came on board quickly. Through Kim's first-look deal at 20th Television, it was pitched to sibling streamer Hulu, which bought it preemptively before taking it off the market with a straight-to-series order.
The Kardashian-Jenner Takeover Continues
Deadline notes Kylie is following the path of Kim, who has branched out into acting and producing. Kim currently stars in Hulu's legal drama All's Fair, headlines the upcoming Netflix movie The Fifth Wheel, and executive produces the Netflix YA drama Calabasas.
Kylie did tease her acting ambitions with a buzzy cameo in Charli xcx's A24 film The Moment, per Deadline. And the timing is cute: The Kardashians returns for Season 8 on October 8.
So… Are We Excited?
A reality-star-turned-murder-victim-turned-narrative-anchor is a juicy swing, and a pool-side whodunit is basically catnip for group chats. Whether the acting lands is a question for when it actually airs, and no release date or additional cast has been announced yet.
The internet, naturally, has opinions. Some Deadline commenters rolled their eyes at another non-actor getting a lead. Others pointed out that any new production means jobs for working actors and crew. Fair points on both sides.
