Ranked: The 6 Pop-Culture Moments Of The Last 48 Hours, From 'Aww' To 'Absolutely Not'
From Florence Pugh's Tom Holland shoutout to Alix Earle's book confession and the end of Koffee With Karan, we ranked the last two days of entertainment news from meh to iconic.
Stop scrolling, because the last 48 hours of entertainment news have been a LOT β so we did the hard work and ranked the lighter, shareable moments from "meh" to "main character." Grab your phone, open the group chat, and prepare to disagree with us.
(We're keeping this to the fun stuff. It's also been a heavy news week, and we're sending love to everyone grieving.)
6. Alix Earle Says She's Never Read A Book
Lowest spot on the list, purely because the internet is arguing about it instead of enjoying it.
During a rapid-fire Q&A with Interview magazine's editor-in-chief, the influencer was asked for the last book she read and answered, "I've never read a book," adding "maybe Dr. Seuss," according to Page Six. The comments section immediately turned into a book club nobody asked for.
Some commenters were horrified. Others called her candid and magnetic. She also said iced coffee at a job interview is fine, which is a whole other debate. Points for honesty, but the list must go on.
5. Julia Stiles Is Back, Baby (Rib Injury And All)
Our hearts went out to the Save the Last Dance star on Dancing With the Stars. She teared up in a rehearsal package over last week's 16/30 and revealed she'd "popped" a rib while rehearsing a salsa, per Page Six.
Then she went out and scored 19/30, with Derek Hough declaring "Julia is back, baby." Comeback arcs are our love language. She also squashed the wild TikTok theories that she'd quit the show. (She had not.)
4. Rihanna Brings The Tinsel To Paris Fashion Week
Rihanna stepped out in a waist-cinching gold skirt suit with tinseled embellishments that shimmered with every step, E! News reports. The next day she went full front-row drama at Dior in an oversized black coat, letting her Chopard diamonds do the talking.
Gold tinsel as a serious outfit choice? Yes. She made it work. We're only ranking her this low because the top three are just that good.
3. Karan Johar Is Ending Koffee With Karan After 22 Years
End of an ERA. Variety reports that the iconic celebrity chat show returns for a ninth and final season on JioHotstar from Oct. 14. It began in 2004 with Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol on the couch and has run 161 episodes since.
Johar says he wants to spend the next decade directing more movies, calling the decision "emotional and personal." Bollywood's most talked-about couch is about to have its last hurrah, and we are NOT emotionally prepared for the final-season confessions.
2. Florence Pugh Says Tom Holland Is The Reason Yelena Is In Spider-Man
Friendship goals, unlocked. On The Tonight Show, Florence Pugh revealed that her Spider-Man: Brand New Day role came about because of Tom Holland. Variety has the details: years ago he was asked on a red carpet who he wanted in the next movie and said Florence Pugh, who plays Yelena. Fans got hyped, and the rest is box office history.
"This all happened because of Tom," Pugh said. One red carpet answer, one Marvel team-up. Gold-medal supportive co-star behavior.
1. Dolly Parton's Museum Opens With A Message From Dolly Herself
The most emotional moment of the week. Dolly's Life of Many Colors Museum opened in Nashville on Tuesday with a prerecorded video from the icon, who died Aug. 25, Page Six reports.
In it, glammed up in gold, she said the museum is "filled with the stories, songs, and memories that I've carried" and includes everything that helped "this little girl's dreams come true." Visitors called it "Museum Perfection, every sparkly detail."
Dolly is still welcoming everyone in. Tissues at the ready, and a very worthy number one.
The Tea β
- Dolly's museum opened with a message from the icon herself.
- Koffee With Karan is ending after 22 years, with the final season out Oct. 14.
- Florence Pugh credits Tom Holland for her Spider-Man role, and Julia Stiles bounced back on DWTS.
