Taylor Swift Crashed Dakota Johnson's SNL Monologue As Her "Therapist" — And The Wine Bottle Roast Is Elite
Taylor Swift surprised Dakota Johnson's SNL monologue as her "therapist," roasting her wine habit and Pedialyte needs. Here's the full bit.
Stop scrolling, because Taylor Swift just walked into Saturday Night Live and roasted Dakota Johnson's wine habits to her face — and honestly? We get it, we'd also show up at her house weekly.
Johnson hosted SNL for the third time last night (her birthday is today, by the way), and the opening monologue turned into a full-blown surprise cameo.
The Setup
Johnson kicked things off by joking about her love life. According to Deadline, she told the crowd she'd been through "two very public, very lame breakups with two very awesome musicians," adding that "some people leave concerts with merch and I leave concerts with a two and a half year relationship."
Then she pivoted to her supportive friends, and introduced "my literal therapist." Cue Taylor.
The Roast
Swift appeared onscreen and was NOT having the therapist title. As Variety reports, she fired back that Johnson just shows up "once a week at my house with an empty bottle of wine."
It got better:
- Swift says Johnson flops on her couch and overshares, and every so often she replies, "damn, that's crazy."
- Johnson's reply: "Sleepover, yay."
- Swift's sign-off on the sleepover: she hands over Pedialyte, and her security drives Johnson home.
Johnson, defending herself, insisted, "Is that not a therapist?" (Respectfully, babe, no.)
And Then Came The Cleveland Joke
To close, per The Hollywood Reporter, Johnson said she's doing a public service by dating musicians, because she's "saving you a lot of money on Zoloft," and thanked "America! And also England and parts of Ireland and Cleveland, allegedly." Swift popped in with a quick "Woo-woo!" Variety's headline reads that as a Travis Kelce love shoutout, and we are not okay.
Swift also squealed "It's her birthday" before the segment wrapped.
Why This Was Basically Inevitable
This wasn't totally out of nowhere. Johnson stars alongside Colin Farrell in Swift's "Patient Zero" video, which Swift directed and co-starred in, and which premiered at the MTV VMAs last Sunday. Variety notes Swift also dropped an expanded eight-minute version of the video on Apple Music earlier Saturday.
Swift's last SNL on-screen appearance was in October 2023, and Variety points out she also nodded to the show in an Easter egg-laden "Law & Order: SVU" sketch at the Emmys. Fans had been predicting this for weeks. The prophecy has been fulfilled.
Quick note: Turnstile was the musical guest, so Swift didn't perform. Her latest project, "The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore," arrived Sept. 25 with four new tracks.
The Tea ☕
- Swift crashed Dakota Johnson's SNL monologue as her "therapist," and instantly denied the job.
- The bit included a wine bottle, a couch and a Pedialyte delivery.
- It follows Johnson's starring role in Swift's "Patient Zero" video.
So here's what we need to know: is "show up with an empty bottle of wine" the best friendship green flag of 2026, or are we all just jealous? Sound off below.
