ZZ Top Pulled The Plug On The Hollywood Bowl HOURS Before Showtime — And Nobody Knows Exactly Why
'Unforeseen personnel matters.' 'Insurmountable obstacles.' The statements are raising more questions than they answer.
Imagine you're heading to the Hollywood Bowl, tickets in hand... and the band cancels while you're picking your outfit.
That's what happened to ZZ Top fans on Wednesday. The classic rockers abruptly canceled their Hollywood Bowl show just hours before doors, citing "unforeseen personnel matters" in a message posted to their official Instagram, Page Six reports. Ticket holders will be refunded.
"Insurmountable Obstacles"
Frontman Billy Gibbons added his own statement — and it somehow made things MORE mysterious: "Insurmountable obstacles require canceling our Hollywood Bowl performance."
"Friends, fans and followers of ZZ Top are the best in the business and the band is counting on everyone to bear with us for this brief interruption," he continued, per Page Six.
No further details were given. Cheap Trick was also on the bill, and Page Six notes the band's rep didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.
The Show (Apparently) Goes On
Here's the twist: according to ZZ Top's official website, the band is still scheduled to play Fresno's Saroyan Theater on Friday. So whatever the obstacle is, it apparently has a two-day expiry date.
